St. David's Relief Foundation
is excited to announce the 10th annual Summer Work Camp
Program. The 2008 Work Camp will return to rural Croatia
and the village of Plaski.

Plaski was a front line
zone of military activity during the Croatian war.
Adding to the strain of the war, many refugees from
the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina fled across
the border and were relocated in Plaski. Today,
unemployment is extensive and the community needs
assistance. Both the Roman and Orthodox Christian
citizens of Plaski are psychologically scarred with
the history of war. Reconciliation and outside assistance
are key elements to the healing of this wounded
community. |
The Catholic church was severely damaged during the war.
Although repaired, the church is now too small to facilitate
the increased Catholic population. The community also
needs a cemetery and a funeral chapel. St. David's, with
your prayers and assistance, desires to provide a place
of worship for these people of faith. Our task is to assist
in building a church by reconstructing an old facility
on the parish grounds. This building will function as
the church until major funds can be raised to construct
a permanent place of worship. Our project would later
convert to a youth center/parish hall. We also plan to
help with the chapel and cemetery project.
Once again, we are blessed to have several Franciscan
Friars of the Renewal join us to provide their labor and
spiritual guidance throughout the journey.
St. David's has committed to assist with funding and construction
of these worthy building endeavors. We wish to invite
our friends to help initiate this project with their prayers,
resources, and labor.
For the second week of the pilgrimage we will stay in
Medjugorje and have the privilege to attend The 19th
Annual Medjugorje International Youth Festival. Please
join us.
Space is limited and only guaranteed for the first
40 deposited passengers. Non refundable deposit of $250.00
due by April 20, 2008. Balance due by May 20, 2008.
